Dr. Tess Onwueme was appointed to the US Public Diplomacy Speaker Program by the US State Department in February/March 2007.
The appointment took the renowned author extensively all around India to present several keynote addresses, readings, and press interviews in such high profile venues as the India International Centre, Delhi, the Indian National School of Drama, Delhi, the J. Nehru University, the University of Calcutta, the University of Mumbai, the New Delhi University, etc.
Other professional engagements undertaken by Dr. Onwueme on behalf the US State Department Public Diplomacy Speaker Program included: Public lectures, press interviews, and stage readings arranged and coordinated by the US Embassy in the American Centre in the Northern, Eastern, and Western regions of India.
Professor Tess Onwueme served as the US State Department Guest of Honor, featured Speaker, and Cultural Facilitator in fifteen educational institutions in India North, East, and West.

Shakara: Dance-Hall Queen
Tess Onwueme’s play, Shakara: Dance-Hall Queen was staged at Purdue University, Calumet/Lafayette in the Spring of 2007.
